Criminal Defense in Arkansas is Bowman Lewis Law's Top Goal

Arkansas Criminal Defense Attorneys

If you are charged with a crime, you need to strongly consider obtaining counsel immediately.  Innocent people can be convicted.  Even if you think that you may be guilty you need to make sure an attorney provides a vigorous defense and forces the State to meet its burden of proof.

We know that it is a frightening experience, and we can and will help you get through it.  We offer payment plans to worthy candidates.  Our office is focused on criminal law, and we work with all aspects of criminal law system.  We have the experience, drive, and willingness to provide our clients the best defense we can.   We work all major cases as a team, so you are not just buying one lawyer.  For a free consultation please call (888) 674-5327.

Here is how the process generally works:

  • Intake: You call us or get us your paperwork and we figure out the basic details about the court and the charges.  We ask you what you want to accomplish and can then provide you a flat fee that will be required (along with our Plain English Agreement) before you can hire us.
  • Jail: If you are in jail, then we will schedule a bond hearing as soon as possible.  Some courts allow us to get a hearing scheduled immediately.  At this hearing we will push to get your bond set as low as possible.  If you use a bail bondsman you must pay 10% that is non-refundable.  If you do not use a bondsman, you must pay 100% of the bond, but it is refundable.  Lesser crimes may allow you to bond on your own recognizance, but past violations such as Failure to Appear convictions may increase your bond.
  • Prices:  Felonies depend on the charge but generally start at $2000.  Misdemeanors start at $500.  Traffic tickets start at $100.  Students and Military/Veterans may receive a discount.  (Please bring ID.)  Keep in mind that higher felonies are naturally more expensive.  If you are charged with a Class Y felony, which includes the possibility of life in prison, you are looking at a minimum for $2750.   We can give you an exact flat fee over the phone.  If you call many firms you will find some are cheaper than us, and you will find some are more expensive.  We are affordable for the level of service we provide, but we are not a "budget firm" that simply seeks to plea your case as quickly as possible.
  • Investigation: Once we have received your fee and Plain English Agreement we request information from the police and courts.  Our job is to find evidence that reduces or gets rid of or mitigates your charges.  We conduct a thorough investigation that goes beyond what the prosecutor gives us in the formal discovery process.  Sometimes a private investigator will be brought in at this stage.
  • Motions:  Prior to a trial we file our standard motions.  Your case may require specific motions prior to trial.  For example, a Motion to Suppress Evidence is commonly used when we can argue evidence was obtained against you in an unlawful manner, and it should not be allowed in court.  We fight for your Fourth Amendment rights to be protected from unauthorized searches and seizures.  There are many attorneys, but most of them are not true criminal defense attorneys.  To be one of these you must continually monitor case law and follow the nuances of the law.  You win with specifics.
  • Court:  Once you are our client, we are with you for bond hearings, plea and arraignment, motion hearings, and trial.   On traffic tickets or certain misdemeanors we can appear on your behalf without you wasting your time.
  • Updates:  You will periodically be contacted by us for questions about facts in your case or for updates about your case.  If a court date is scheduled that you must attend, we send several reminders.

Remember, all cases are different.  The above is a general overview.  Please ask us any specific questions you have.  Call us at (888) 674-5327 for a Free Consultation.
